Happy New Year! God. 2007. Where do these strange new years come from? They always seem so far away, and then suddenly they're here. I think some part of me still thinks it's, like, 1992 or something.

A new year means it's time for new calendars, which is my favorite part of the day. (I have a bit of a thing for clocks and calendars and other time-marking devices.) This year I have the official Doctor Who one from Chandra, and I also have this one, with gorgeous pictures from Alaska. (Look at the one for January, with the northern lights. Preeeetty.)

Hmmm. Now that I'm out of school, one of these days, my brain will shift over from thinking that a new year really begins in August. Won't it?

Nope. You're stuck. Sorry. ^_^

I still think in semesters. But I figure it's not that big a deal. =P

Happy New Year!

I especially like the idea of the year beginning and ending with the same month. Gives you a better chance to evaluate what you've done over the year, by holding the month constant. And it's so much more symmetrical...

Hrm. I love having the new year start in the middle of winter; it gives the year a nice arc. We start off with winter, and then other things grow out of it, and then those things die and we're back to winter.

I guess I'm willing to sacrifice logical boundaries for parallelism. Also, having a month be halfway in one year and halfway in the other is the first step towards making that entire month a vacation. ^_^

Yeah, I'm totally screwed with that one.

(Dude. On my birthday! Woo!)

Impressive! You'd get a lot of "New Year's party with a little bit of Happy Becca Day thrown in" parties, though.

(As a school-teacher, I have the best birthday ever, because it's the day before an obscure federal holiday. ^_^)

It would still be better than being born on or within a month of December 25th, though.

Yeah -- or worse, being between Christmas and New Year's. My father's birthday is 30 Dec, and he's always hated it.

(I was supposed to be born on Valentine's Day. Narrowly missed that one...)

I'm close enough that would be a problem if I cared about Valentine's Day. So I guess it's one of the benefits of being bitter. ^_^
