BSG 3.17: Maelstrom
Mar. 4th, 2007 10:11 pm*rolls eyes* Pshaw. Like Kara's actually dead. She's totally a Cylon of some form. At any rate, that was definitely not the last we see of her.
Then again, I can't really claim that I'd be real broken up if it were her last episode... Although I did like her in this episode more than I had since season one. That's something. Katee Sackhoff did a fine job with some nice material.
A particularly good scene was the one between her and Lee where they carefully talk around their relationship. If that scene, with its "here we are, back where we started, you as CAG, me as your hotshot pilot" lines, had the entire extent of the Love Quadrangle (with the exception of the flashbacks in "Unfinished Business"), then I would've liked it a whole hell of a lot more, and might've even wanted to see Lee and Kara together, instead of all four of them completely celibate forever more.
Now that I've seen CKR as two different Not Evil characters (RayK and Duck), it's weird seeing him again as Leoben...or rather Not!Leoben. Whatever he was. Creepy guy.
I was hoping for more about what Kara Thrace And Her Special Destiny actually, y'know, was. The scenes with her mom were great, but told me very little. Unless her destiny was...to die? To accept that death is cool? Somehow, I don't think so. Again, I'm guessing she's a Cylon, or in some way is not actually dead.
Cute A/R moment of the week: Bill starting to put his hand on Laura's back as they're walking down the corridor, before Starbuck interrupts them. Aw!
Conclusion: It brought the emotional goods, but didn't deliver on the plot. But that's not a terribly rare occurence of late. Still, there were long scenes out in space! Pilots were flying vipers! OMG, you mean this is a show set on spaceships?!
ETA: I forgot to watch the preview. Duh. I was so disgusted by how useless the "bonus scene" (you know, if you have them every week, they aren't a bonus anymore, they're just stupid) was that I turned off the TV as soon as it was over. I hear the trial might actually start next week? Woo!

Date: 2007-03-05 04:25 am (UTC)ME TOO. I guess her destiny was to be a Cylon. Or something.
Still. I feel like they sort of worked themselves into a hole about herbeing a Cylon with giving her a mother/childhood. I mean, Cylons can't reproduce w/each other, so . . . How did she get here? How did she grow and evolve? How did she get a back story? Or maybe her life story is just a big Cylon mind trick? I don't know.
(Yes, I DO haunt LJ immediately after the show to see your BSG posts right away. Wow, I've become a geek.)

I'm touched. :) And don't worry, you don't reach full geekdom until you write fanfic/make a fanvid/start a website/etc. Trust me here. ;)

Exactly. If that was her destiny, it was pretty anticlimactic.
