FYI: While I don't know what pomegranates have to do with the holidays (unless we're going Greek and refering to Persephone, Demeter, and the changing of the seasons), the makers of 7-Up decided to make a holiday version of said soft drink with said flavor, and lured me in with their wily marketing schemes. (In other words, I was getting groceries this morning, and it was on the shelf, and I said, "Oooh, that sounds tasty!") Anyway, it's really quite bad, and I recommend against it.

Ways to know you've been spending too much time in front of the computer watching TV and on the futon reading for class: your butt starts hurting. Rather badly. Although possibly this is related to the annual, "Oh, it's fall, and the weather's changing! I must remind you of that time six years ago when you slipped on some ice and broke/cracked/bruised/made me hurt for six months straight!" thing my tailbone does. Slightly different place, though. Although it seems to have expanded today to include basically the waist through the thigh...
Enough about my butt.
Re: the TV: I...am going to guess that "Two Bodies in the Lab" spawned 1.2 million fanfics. Just a guess, mind you. Awww. (But, for the record, just the kind of thing I do not need in the hour before I go to bed is to be shocked with an exploding refrigerator. Just sayin'.)
Zack is almost human! He's much less creepy now. I think he started using vocal inflection or something. And they finally used a song that didn't suck in the desert episode. Yay Patty Griffin for saving us from bad rock songs.
My medium-length paper this semester got canceled (HURRAH!), so I feel slightly less guilty about watching, um, 17 episodes in less than a week. Soon I'll get to the end of S1, and have to rely on Netflix for the rest until I get to S4, so the madness has an ending in sight.
(I kind of want to go searching for a Bones icon, but I don't want to spoil myself more than I already am. (I, er, may have been trying to find out via Wikipedia if they film on location, and in doing so found out certain things about Zach, Angela, and Hodgins. And I perhaps have a vague idea about something concerning Brennan's parents. But if there's anything ELSE left to surprise me, I'm going to try and make it until I see it on the show.) Perhaps I'll just make one in all that copious free time I have right now...)

tarzanic gave me some icons to talk about :

LOLcaptions and the absuridity that is Pushing Daisies just had to go together somehow. Olive's gun-in-a-pie gave me just that opportunity.

Julian and Jadzia! They were either my first or second shipper couple. I was twelve, I think. I still love them. Worf does not exist in my world; instead, both of them made it through the war and lived happily ever after togetherdammit.

Well, that cap was used for precisely that purpose all over LJ after the first Christmas special aired. :D

Along with the preceding one, this is one of the few New Who icons I have left after I got angry with RTD. It's Nine and Rose fom "Father's Day," with a quote from Henry VI Part...two, I think. One of the Henry VIs. It's my catchall Shakespeare icon; I think I'm going to replace it soon with another Shakey quote paired with a cap from a show I don't have such mixed feelings about.

Saskatchewan is really flat. And sometimes really beautiful. Brent and Lacey of Corner Gas make great pals, too. (I think I might have shipped them once, but it would be really weird if they went there after all this time.)

I did this as one of
rivrea's five, so I'll summarize: Mahandra is awesome. :D

Date: 2008-11-07 01:40 am (UTC)I would just like to say that right now, this up-to-her-eyeballs-in-work grad student really hates you. Nothing personal, you understand. Well...mostly. ;) Oh, the TV I would love to sit down and watch...sigh.

Date: 2008-11-07 02:24 am (UTC)Hee. Well, I'm also not trying to hold down a full-time job while I do the grad school thing.
(This kind of thing actually always results in me getting more work done faster. TV episodes are great motivators. Instead of wasting time on the internet when I take a break, looking up to find that hours have gone by, I have a "do x, then watch an episode, then do y, then watch an episode, then go to bed" kind of schedule. I also watch them during lunch and dinner, which are otherwise wasted times, because I don't want, say, spaghetti sauce all over my books or notes or whatever. I usually put in 45-50 hours a week with classes and reading, but this week it'll probably be closer to 60 because of the better time management.)

Date: 2008-11-07 02:43 am (UTC)True, though I'm not really sure that I'm "trying." I'm pretty well doing. Ain't no in between on that one ;)
I've used TV as a motivator in the past, and it does work well, but I tend to want to think/say 'oh, just one more episode!' and then all is lost. Though, if I were honest and really wanted to watch the TV stuff, I'd stop farting around looking at political blogs and just go watch an hour's TV and then get back to work. I'd probably waste less time that way...

Date: 2008-11-07 08:53 pm (UTC)Heh. Indeed you are doing. I would probably be "trying" and "failing." :D

I seem to have no problem with the desire to watch one more after I've watched my alloted amount, but I do sometimes not finish what I've told myself I'll finish before watching another episode, so, yeah, it can sometimes backfire.

That's what's happened to me--I've stopped reading a message board I often waste several hours a day on, and am instead wasting those hours on Bones.

Date: 2008-11-07 03:06 am (UTC)What evil could possibly make you think that might be tasty?? (Also, I have some pomegranate-flavored bridges you might like to purchase...)
I...am going to guess that "Two Bodies in the Lab" spawned 1.2 million fanfics.
Bwahah! It's like the producers had a little note on their calendars: "This week: pander to the shippers." Dorky dancing! Hospital bedsides!
Getting blown up!Hug tiemz! Poor Booth and his puddings. And did you notice that Brennan took her kung fu to insane levels WITH BOTH HANDS LITERALLY TIED BEHIND HER BACK?? I lol'd.Zack is almost human! He's much less creepy now.
See?? Now if only he could look older than twelve... (IMDb says the actor is thirty-four, and this is his first major tv role - before, he did musical theater and once played a... dancing polar bear?? Oh IMDb, you are a font of wonder.)
watching, um, 17 episodes in less than a week
Muahahaha! Me too.
I kind of want to go searching for a Bones icon, but I don't want to spoil myself more than I already am.
I know! I got eyeball whiplash earlier today, trying to get away from an unexpected spoiler about a Zach arc. Nooooo!

Date: 2008-11-07 09:01 pm (UTC)I like pomegranate-flavored yogurt (at least I did, for the one cup I had before Yoplait stopped selling it), so I thought this would be good too. Instead, it tastes a lot like dirt.
Bwahah! It's like the producers had a little note on their calendars: "This week: pander to the shippers."
So many shows seem to do that...perhaps it's a calendar you can buy.
Dorky dancing! Hospital bedsides!
Getting blown up!Hug tiemz!Yay hug tiemz! Although that must have hurt for Booth.
And did you notice that Brennan took her kung fu to insane levels WITH BOTH HANDS LITERALLY TIED BEHIND HER BACK?? I lol'd.
YES. And in the dance scene, did you notice that flying kick she started off with? I was like, "are you trying to break his nose with your boot?"
IMDb says the actor is thirty-four
NO. I can't believe this and stay sane. I would have put him at twenty-five, max.

I can see the musical theatre, actually, though the dancing polar bear befuddles me.
I know! I got eyeball whiplash earlier today, trying to get away from an unexpected spoiler about a Zach arc. Nooooo!
I was not so lucky at avoiding that arc. Nor one for two other characters. I have to say, I'm looking forward to the next two seasons in entirely different ways now...

Date: 2008-11-08 05:21 am (UTC)Maybe you accidentally got the "Now With Added Dirt!" flavor?

I... would buy that calendar?
Although that must have hurt for Booth.
Knights in shining FBI standard issue body armor do not whine when damsels in distress clutch at their broken clavicles! They... only whine about pudding.
And in the dance scene, did you notice that flying kick she started off with?
Bwah! That was the flail to end all flails!
I would have put him at twenty-five, max.
I bet he'll look exactly the same in twenty years, too.

Yesterday I got spoiled again by youtube, which is utterly unfair. I'm not allowed to look at The Internet anymore until I get caught up.

Judo-flavored flail!
I bet he'll look exactly the same in twenty years, too.
Almost certainly.

Uh...why were you looking on YouTube? At least with fanfic, you're not quite sure if you're reading a spoiler or fiction; with video, it's always a spoiler. (What was it, anyway?)

Date: 2008-11-09 03:25 am (UTC)Better than earwax?
Uh...why were you looking on YouTube?
I was looking for official s2 trailers of very limited spoilertude, to see how the show was presented by Fox's ad campaign. I continue to view fanvids as several circles of Hell deeper than fanfic, and avoid them at all costs.
(What was it, anyway?)
Max seems to become a recurring character onscreen instead of just off?

I heard about that. Can't remember if he does it from jail or not, though.

Awww, Julian and Jadzia! I miss them.
Yay, Mahandra!

Hmmm, I'm curious what you found out.
Curious as in you've seen it all and want to know which bits I know, or curious as in you don't know what's coming and want to stay spoiler-free?

I can imagine.

Date: 2008-11-08 03:41 am (UTC)A bit of both, actually, but more on the former. I do know a little bit about what's coming in the next few episodes of season 4, but not much. I'm more wondering what you could have found out.

I don't know any spoilers beyond the end of S3 (so really they're just spoilers for me, probably). I had a vague idea of what was coming at the end of S1 (which I just finished moments ago! Oh my god, I watched an entire season of television in six days) with Brennan's parents; I also know that Angela and Hodgins either get married, elope, or almost get married but get cold feet sometime in...S2? S3? I'm not clear on much besides that they're linked with some kind of marriage plot. Oh, and the biggest and best spoiler I know is that Zach is a murderer (apparently there's brainwashing? I didn't read too many of the details), and gets declared insane so he doesn't go to trial. (My creeped-out-ness at him was not entirely unfounded!) And there's apparently an episode in Vegas involving B&B as undercover fiances, which I am all for. :D
I think I'm going to attempt to avoid more spoilage than that. I'm pretty sure I've hit the high points, but perhaps there's a detail here or there that will be shocking. Like, say, the exploding refrigerator in TBitL...

Date: 2008-11-08 10:52 pm (UTC)Eeek. I wouldn't want Foreigner following me around on the radio. Not that I really recognize most of their stuff, but I didn't really like that one. Of course, it was the first time I'd heard it. (I get the distinct impression that this show is twice as funny for people who actually get the pop culture references that Brennan and I both miss.)
The Skull in the Desert (another fav) is what sparked my discovery of Patty Griffin and I gotta say I'm really glad it did cause she's awesome :)
She is indeed.
Also, you do not want to know what I thought the gun in the pie actually looked like prior to your explanation of what it was. ;)
Er...I have a feeling I know what you're getting at, but it just looks like a pistol to me.
