So I actually really, really liked Sully. I felt horribly guilty about it, of course, because he's not Booth, but...he was kind of awesome. And funny. And sweet. And smart. And charmingly eccentric. Usually I hate the obvious outside-character-love interests, but I liked this guy. (Um, I'll totally run away on the boat with him, Brennan.) His only real failing was springing the boat thing on her after, what, six weeks of dating? Dood. He obviously doesn't know her at all.
I liked that they didn't have Booth being too too jealous. There was the "testosterone spill in aisle four," but beyond that, Booth did not make an ass out of himself at all, which...I don't think I've ever seen on a TV show in this kind of situation. Ha, and Sully totally wormed his secret crush out of him. (I'm kind of glad he didn't try to matchmake them at the end, either. Yay for leaving with dignity left intact.) I'm curious if Gordon Gordon will do the same...
Speaking of Gordon Gordon...Stephen Fry is freakin' awesome. That is all. ("Barbeque machine"!) I'm a little surprised at how into the whole therapy thing Booth got, though. I would have figured he'd be fighting it all the way. Was this the first time the wild socks were mentioned? I remember reading about them in fanfic, but had always wondered where that came from. And, uh...I kind of liked the staid tie better than his usual ones. I don't object to the patterns or the colors, but rather the thinness of them. Looks odd. (Speaking of ties and looking odd...Zack's haircut makes him look even younger than he did. I want to pinch his cheeks and send him back to his fifth-grade classroom.)
I wondered when they'd get around to having a string of murders based on one of Brennan's books. I mean, instant plot device right there. (I...want to buy her as a writer. But it's very, very hard. I would be surprised if the woman had ever read a novel after she turned, oh, twelve.)
Angela and Brennan sharing multiple TMI sessions...and Brennan and Sully's TMI with the "size" convo, not to mention the whole "making out at work" deal...was...horrifying, actually. Gah. I was going to be shocked, and then I remembered that this airs on Fox, and was suddenly thankful that this was the first time we'd been treated to that level of detail. (I'm kind of surprised we only heard about Angela and Hodgins in the storage closet, and didn't actually see it.)
In "The Girl in the Gator," that was the most obviously rubber alligator I have ever seen.
Caroline Julian is the best reocurring character ever.
Oof. Must go to bed now.

Date: 2008-11-26 11:49 pm (UTC)I KNOW! I could totally see her writing some kind of academic/popular science text that got inexplicably famous and led to a demand for further books in that vein, but novels...dude. Can't see it. (Also, when the hell does she have time to write?)
He'd've been good for Brennan if Booth weren't better :)
Actually, I think he would be better for her than Booth. However, they would not be nearly as interesting together as B&B, so of course, since this is TV, that has to win. :D

Eh. Not a fan. He was just so ADD and flighty. Brennan needs somebody with tunnel-vision focus, like her. Booth may have a jillion flaws as a long-term romantic interest, but flightiness is not one of them.
Booth did not make an ass out of himself at all, which...I don't think I've ever seen on a TV show in this kind of situation.
Aww, he tried so hard! With much teasing and irritating, but... he did really make that effort to be pleased for her, ultimately. Except for the part when Sully left and Booth DRAPED HIMSELF ALL OVER HER. Please contain your glee, sir. Or at least wait for Sully to get more than a few feet from shore, for politeness's sake?
Ha, and Sully totally wormed his secret crush out of him.
OMG, did you see that facial tic in Booth when Sully asked him? That was like a 7 on the Richter scale!
Stephen Fry is freakin' awesome.
If only they could afford to have him in every episode!
Was this the first time the wild socks were mentioned?
Mentioned, perhaps, but he definitely had them, wardrobe-wise, way early on in the series. I remember blindingly prominent Christmas socks in that one episode.
(I...want to buy her as a writer. But it's very, very hard. I would be surprised if the woman had ever read a novel after she turned, oh, twelve.)
I... am afraid that her books would read just like Kathy Reichs's. Excessively technical (and boringly written technical, at that), with dull characters interacting dully. Woes! I'm confused about what compels Brennan to write novels? (Although it's amusing that her heroine is named Kathy Reichs...)
not to mention the whole "making out at work" deal
Pee. Dee. Ay. Unnecessary. Come on, Brennan, you have that beautiful apartment, use it. Or maybe, you know, find a workplace with walls?
Angela and Hodgins in the storage closet,
AGAIN with the inappropriate romantic locations! I didn't want to know that!
Caroline Julian is the best reocurring character ever.
If only Stephen Fry were that cheap! (Ummmm can those two meet? Pretty pretty please, Santa?)

Eh. Not a fan. He was just so ADD and flighty.
And ADORABLE!

Actually, I thought he would be better for her than Booth--get her out of her rut. It wouldn't be nearly as interesting on TV as B&B, though.

That...may have been a little tacky.
OMG, did you see that facial tic in Booth when Sully asked him? That was like a 7 on the Richter scale!
Heeee!
If only they could afford to have him in every episode!
But then he might lose his specialness. Small doses are probably good.
Mentioned, perhaps, but he definitely had them, wardrobe-wise, way early on in the series. I remember blindingly prominent Christmas socks in that one episode.
Huh. I am sock-blind, apparently.

Woes indeed! That's about what I figure they'd be like as well.
I'm confused about what compels Brennan to write novels?
Her ENORMOUS INNER ANGST, of course!!eleventy!!! Actually, I have no idea. She really, really doesn't seem like the type of person who would write novels. Textbooks, yes. Novels, no.
(Although it's amusing that her heroine is named Kathy Reichs...)

Just wait until you get to the epsiode with "lunch at the Egyptian place." I think it's on the next disc. Enjoy.

OMGTHATWOULDBEAWESOME.

Date: 2008-12-13 04:59 am (UTC)Maybe in a different context, but.... eh.
Actually, I thought he would be better for her than Booth--get her out of her rut.
She needs to be gently *guided* out of her rut, not ripped out in a whiplash-y fashion by Caribbean cruises. He didn't seem to get that distinction.
That...may have been a little tacky.
And when it comes to testosterone, Booth is all about tacky.
Huh. I am sock-blind, apparently.
When Booth gets kidnapped by the Icepick guy, I love how his belt buckle ("Cocky"? Are you serious? Has Wyatt seen that?) and blinding socks get dragged right past the camera. Hee!
Woes indeed! That's about what I figure they'd be like as well.
But I don't want to want to punch Brennan in the face for her bad writing!
Her ENORMOUS INNER ANGST, of course!!eleventy!!!
I don't see how she can write all about her heroine's sexy FBI boyfriend and then pretend like nobody will notice it's Booth....
She really, really doesn't seem like the type of person who would write novels. Textbooks, yes. Novels, no.
Yeah, I could even see her arguing the superiority of textbooks for presenting forensic arguments...
Just wait until you get to the epsiode with "lunch at the Egyptian place." I think it's on the next disc. Enjoy.
T. M. I. Those poor museum curators!
OMGTHATWOULDBEAWESOME.
EPIC BATTLE! Or maybe they would just gang up on Booth?

Date: 2008-12-13 09:59 pm (UTC)I seem to recall Wyatt calling it a modern-day codpiece, yes.
Alas, I missed the socks again. But I did see them in an episode I'm not sure you've gotten to you--though only because the camera focused on them for like five seconds.
I don't see how she can write all about her heroine's sexy FBI boyfriend and then pretend like nobody will notice it's Booth....
Seriously, though. She couldn't have made the character female?
Yeah, I could even see her arguing the superiority of textbooks for presenting forensic arguments...
Absolutely.
T. M. I. Those poor museum curators!
Dear lord, yes. I just hope maybe they brought sheets from home?
EPIC BATTLE! Or maybe they would just gang up on Booth?
They would so gang up on Booth.

Date: 2008-12-14 04:38 am (UTC)Oh Wyatt! Be in more episodes!
Alas, I missed the socks again.
How?? They were like full-screen! They've been all over the second half of S2! I think you have a sock-shaped blind spot, ma'am.
She couldn't have made the character female?
Heheh yes I'm sure lesbian forensic anthropologists would sell like hotcakes... But she needs a romantic interest in there somewhere, and.... maybe she finds it hard to imagine interesting males outside the workplace? *coughcoughoroutsideBoothcoughcough*
I just hope maybe they brought sheets from home?
pleasepleaseplease I doubt it. : ..... (
They would so gang up on Booth.
And then he would curl up in a corner and cry.

Or something...

I totally see her being all, "Romance is for chicklit authors! I'm just writing mysteries!"

I totally see her being all, "Romance is for chicklit authors! I'm just writing mysteries!"
On the other hand, she (or at least her publisher) knows what sells mysteries to middle-aged women, and... it's not the mystery part? She is practical.
