Ellen, are you and I trading back injuries? Because yesterday I did the same thing you did, except my incident was getting off the couch. And then I did it again last night turning over in bed (I'm surprised my parents didn't hear me screaming), and ended up at the doctor today because OMG OW. Being unable to stand up because of lower back pain is a bad thing. (And then once I could stand up, I couldn't bend over, so my mother had to tie my shoes for me. *fail*)
Apparently it's three strained muscles. Wonderful. They gave me a shot of ibuprofen which has so far had zero effect, but I'm getting a prescription filled for a muscle relaxer, so good times ahead? Or at least sleepy times, since I didn't get any last night because of PAIN PAIN PAIN NO MATTER THE POSITION?

Date: 2008-12-30 10:58 pm (UTC)Yeaaah. Something about the one that runs over the spine and the two flanking it, I think it was. Definitely an overachievement.
Aleve is the stuff you can only take every twelve hours, yes? That makes me go "eeek" because I've never used it, and if it doesn't work I'm out of luck for twelve hours. (The shot they gave me was something related to ibuprofen, but not ibuprofen, and whatever it was is apparently something my body doesn't recognize as a painkiller, so I was basically like "OW OW OW OW oooh muscle relaxer zzzzzz OW OW OW repeat" until I could take some freaking Advil this morning.
I didn't need my parents to help me out of bed this morning, though, so improvement is on the horizon!

Uh, yeah, when I went to the ER after getting thrown off a horse, they gave me morphine for the pain, only... a tiny minority of people are completely unaffected by morphine? Including me? OW OW OW.

Wow, that sucks. The morphine-type stuff I had for after my wisdom teeth came out was wonderful. Were they able to give you something else?

Date: 2009-01-02 10:52 pm (UTC)Eh. It took me about a week to get off the constant ibuprofen. Reduced swelling is good for you!
Were they able to give you something else?
Nope. They were like, "you'll be fine! Just rest!" I went home and took lots of ibuprofen. : (
