BSG 4.15: "The Oath"
Jan. 31st, 2009 01:22 pmI think my numbering has been off this season. Apparently this is episode fifteen. Was there a two-parter I counted as one episode, perhaps?
SO. THIS EPISODE. WHICH I THINK I HAVE TO POST ABOUT IN CAPSLOCK FOR A BIT.
HOLY GODS. For the last three minutes, I was hyperventilating and trying to think, "They CAN'T kill off both Adama and Tigh they CAN'T" and then realizing that oh, yes, this is BSG and THEY VERY WELL CAN AND WE WON'T KNOW IF THEY DID UNTIL NEXT WEEK AND HOLY HELL I AM REALLY, REALLY UPSET RIGHT NOW.
(BTW, Hulu doesn't give us previews of the next episode, so I am completely unspoiled and I'd prefer to stay that way. Thanks.)
Um. So aside form the panic attack at the end, this episode was awesome like an awesomely awesome thing. Roslin got off her butt and got involved again! YAAAAAAYYYY! And she and Adama shocked everyone with their PDA. Tigh was so funny at the beginning. And then everyone in the hangar was all, "Doodedoo...I don't see anything...lalala..." (Except Baltar, who looked kind of disturbed. Or possibly aroused.)
I cheered when Roslin got on the radio. Mwahahahaha. Way to mess up the revolution. And I liked the connections they drew between her and Baltar; I usually see them as so opposed, but they really played up the fraud and corruption both of them have become mired in, and the poorness of their people-choosing skills. Heh, and Laura's "I never really believed in your converstion, so I was counting on your well-honed sense of self-preservation" was hilarious.
I actually liked Starbuck this time, and I usually don't do that. Even more awesome, I liked both her and Lee at the same time, which hasn't happened since...well, okay, I just looked at my archives and apparently I said that during "Revelations," but since that was six freaking months ago, it feels like a while. Anyway, them being all commando was awesome. And I guess the happy-to-be-alive kiss made all the Lee/Kara shipers happy? (Plus: "Where are your precious Cylons now?" *Kara shoots* I would happily accept her as the final Cylon over Ellen.)
I wondered a little at how Gaeta's revolution could actually make it that far. Surely more people would've noticed sooner that he was acting nuttier than a squirrel. (Speaking of squirrelly, is Baltar's "our little secret," mentioned when he was trying to talk Gaeta down, supposed to be something we saw? Or is it something they've never mentioned?)
Shorter thoughts:
- The hood being pulled over Sam's head before the rebels beat him senseless was very KKKish. I guess that was the point.
- My other panicky moment was when the rebels came for the Fightin' Agathons. I seriously thought Helo was not long for this world. I guess he's still not safe. Meep.
- Six still looks incredibly not-pregnant.
- If the allies win this dust-up, I'm curious to see how "no amnesty" works. Considering their lack of population, this seems unwise. Although it would certainly feel good.
- Maldonaldo was played by Craig Veroni, aka Peter Grodin from Atlantis. Good to see you again, Grodin! Even if you are rebelling.
- I realized yet again during this episode that I am hopeless with minor characters' names. I didn't even recognize most of the pilot rebels, although the main characters did.
- OMG IS IT NEXT SATURDAY YET???

Ah, you haven't seen the webisodes (gods, what an ugly "word"), have you? They were up before the new season (if that's what we're calling this part) started, but take place right before last week's ep, and explain a whole lot. Your question is answered there. You can still stream them from Sci-Fi, but they're in 4-minute chunks, which is really annoying. I don't know of a way to get the episode in longer segments, alas. I keep wondering what they'll do with them on the DVDs.

I loathe the Skiffy website, so I gave them a miss, yes.

Ah. Well, that explains much. I still can't stand the website, so I guess I'll just not bother. I doubt I'm missing much, and even if I am, there's so much other cool stuff going on, who cares?
