OH GOD. I OFFICIALLY KNOW MORE ABOUT CENTAURI PHYSIOLOGY THAN I EVER WANTED TO KNOW.
Was that put in the episode so that we would all wish for the brainwipe machine to be real?
(Speaking of which: what voodoo did the inventor of said machine perform to trick the government into thinking it's a less harsh option than capital punishment? DOOD.)

Yes, but it's more hilarious and less "What IS that? EWWWW!" later.

Date: 2009-03-10 01:25 am (UTC)Also, LJ died before i could post my comment on your last entry - yes, it is supposed to be confusing. I can't remember how long it takes, but the episode will be explained eventually. It might take a few seasons, but you'll get there.
Me, I was lucky - I started watching B5 in reruns around season 3 or 4, so I saw the Explanation Episode before the WTF, Confusing episode. It is still a bit o.O, though - kind of made me wonder what the heck the writers were on when they came up with those two episodes and if, if fact, they came up with them together.

Argh.
I watched some first-run episodes in S3 (I think it was S3...I was twelve, so that sounds right), but I remember so very little of the explainy bits they were doing then. I recall being bored by the whole thing because I didn't have the background. I think if I'd seen this episode in its first airing, without knowing that all would be explained later, I'd have been pissed off.

Date: 2009-03-10 02:34 am (UTC)Ah, I was wondering which bits you had seen originally. My first episode was "Deconstruction of Falling Stars" which is the last episode of season 4, I believe. That was a weird place to get into it, but one of the characters did something in it that made me love the character forever. Plus I think B5 was my first spaceship-faring scifi show after Trek, so it was a nice switch. I then saw all of season 5 and looped around to watch all of it, including the movies. Yay for TNT reruns!
