I watched some first-run episodes in S3 (I think it was S3...I was twelve, so that sounds right), but I remember so very little of the explainy bits they were doing then.

Ah, I was wondering which bits you had seen originally. My first episode was "Deconstruction of Falling Stars" which is the last episode of season 4, I believe. That was a weird place to get into it, but one of the characters did something in it that made me love the character forever. Plus I think B5 was my first spaceship-faring scifi show after Trek, so it was a nice switch. I then saw all of season 5 and looped around to watch all of it, including the movies. Yay for TNT reruns!
