BSG 4.21: "Daybreak Part 1"
Mar. 14th, 2009 02:44 pmI am apparently doomed to always make the Knoxville to Nashville drive in pouring rain and blinding fog. At least this time it didn't threaten to turn to snow halfway through.
But now I am home, and have watched BSG.
Well, that was very Part One, wasn't it? It's hard to comment much, because so much is obviously going to be built upon in the next two episodes. So I'll just do quickie reactions:
- OMG Earth! Um, okay, Caprica. I think this might have been the most we've ever seen of a pre-holocaust colony in an episode. Part of me likes the revisiting of events prior to the bombing--in a "this is all we've lost and what we've been thinking about for four years" sort of melancholy way--but another part is wondering how it will all tie in. I assume we're focusing on these particular events in these particular characters' lives for specific reasons...
- Heh, Baltar is obviously a student of the Seeley Booth school of fashion. (Check out the stripy socks.)
- Oh, wow, Laura looks so healthy! I miss healthy Laura. Although that dress is terrible.
- Starbuck has short hair! It also looks much better. And hello, Zak...
- Gaius has a family! Huh. He seems like the type to have sprung up from mud somewhere. And his dad isIrish Airelonian...
- "Officer Stephanie and Officer Sean"? Really? Wow, Caprica City police department, you should look into some professionalization there.
- Oh, LAURA. *squishes* You and Ivanova should get together and talk about how crappily the universe treats you. And drink a lot.
- Did you see the sticker that said "transfer to Cylon Baseship"? I think the cameraman thought you missed it.
- Starbuck does math. And music. And we hear another iteration of the song!
- The other Cylon models! Wow, we haven't seen them in years!
- Aaaand Adam gets some dramatic music...he's totally going to give Helo a raptor to go after Hera...
- "You're my daughter." Awww.
- Anders wants perfection. Because he's a machine.
- Baltar, what sneaky plan do you have up your sleeve? You gave in to Lee far, far too easily.
- Okay. So a bunch of people, including civilians, are taking Galactica on a rescue mission, even though the ship is pretty much not going to make the jump? Why, exactly? I'm not really understanding this. In no way will this work better than using actual trained military folks on raptors. Are they all trying to die?
- Aww, Laura! And the Adama/Roslin theme!
- Black hole, you say? Uh, Racetrack, you might wish to turn the ship around.
- Lee's in uniform again. Huh.
- Wait, the Colony is one kilometer from the black hole, or the "parking spot" is one kilometer away from the Colony? Surely it's the latter.
Like I said, very Part One.

Date: 2009-03-14 11:07 pm (UTC)Maybe the Colony is trapped in the Event Horizon ala the Andromeda Ascendant and has been frozen in time for three hundred years. Or something.
