Incredible amounts of water. I can hardly even conceive of it. I just heard that part of the organ in the new symphony hall has been destroyed, and now this floods just pissing me off. Don't mess with our music, dammit!
Knoxville is fine--there's 150 miles between us and the flooded areas.
Nashville won't even really be able to assess damages until the water recedes. Some of the suburbs have had the water recede, but it'll be another couple of days for downtown, I think. TN's governor applied for federal disaster relief yesterday, and mentioned something about multi-billion dollar damages. Most people in Nashville don't have flood insurance, so they're SOL on that front. It's basically Nashville's Katrina.
I'm glad to hear that you are safe and sound and not affected by the disaster at all, although I can't even begin to imagine what the inhabitants of the flooded areas must be going through...
