Put a quarter in the jukebox

Meme from
gamesiplay:
Step 1: Put your music player on shuffle.
Step 2: Post the first line (or first and second line if it's completely impossible) from the first 30 songs that play, no matter how embarrassing. I was doing okay with this, and then I ran into a string of them where the title was in the first line, and got tired of skipping them, so I started just pulling lines from the middle. And I went with three or four lines where I felt like it.
Step 3: Strike out the songs when someone guesses both artist and track correctly. (Artist isn't important on covers, though, 'cause that's just unfair.)
Step 4: Looking them up on Google or any other search engine is CHEATING!
Step 5: If you like the game post your own!
1. 'Cause love's such an old fashioned word / And love dares you to care for / The people on the edge of the night ["Under Pressure," Queen,
nhpw]
2. The sun is up, I'm so happy I could scream / And there's nowhere else in the world I'd rather be
3. Why are some men born with minds that earn degrees / the loving cups, guilded plaques grace their study walls
4. I was twenty-one years when I wrote this song / I'm twenty-two now, but I won't be for long ["A New England," Kirsty McColl cover,
loneraven]
5. He was born a sailor's son / Nothing came easy or free / He suffered the squalls, all the rises and falls / And everything else in between
6. Watch while the queen, in one false move, turns herself into a pawn / Sleepy and shaken, and watching while the blurry night turns into a very clear dawn
7. It's the quiet night that breaks me / I cannot stand the sight of this familiar place ["Nothing Without You," Vienna Teng,
loneraven]
8. The minute you walked in the joint / I could see you were a man of distinction ["Big Spender," Sweet Charity,
laserhead]
9. The winter here's cold and bitter / It's chilled us to the bone ["Full of Grace," Sarah McLachlan,
gamesiplay]
10. We climbed through the canopy / Only to find a crack in our gauge
11. When I hear the sound of the black bird's cry / I know I left in the nick of time
12. Is he a dot or is he a speck / When he's under water, does he get wet / Or does the water get him instead? ["Particle Man," They Might Be Giants,
idella]
13. There's fifty dollars on this pony / Chase him down these tracks
14. How can you jubilate sitting in cages, never taking wing? / Outside the sky waits, beckoning, beckoning, just beyond the bars ["Green Finch and Linnet Bird," Sweeney Todd,
rowdycamels]
15. Here we stand at the end of paths taken / guiding light inspiration, the slow decline
16. Write your name upon my sidewalk / I'll paint it on the door outside
17. But you lost yourself inside those sounds, / in the dimestore riches and the carnival crowds / and your shooting star it was burning out
18. Oh be the music in my head, / the air around my bed, oh be my rest
19. 'Cause in my head, there's a Greyhound station / Where I send my thoughts to far-off destinations ["Soul Meets Body," Death Cab for Cutie,
idella]
20. There was a lady fine and gay / She looked so neat and trim / She went unto her garden wall / To see the ships come in
21. A dream coming down / cold on your skin and dark on the ground
22. Westward from the Davis Straight, 'tis there 'twas said to lie / The sea route to the Orient for which so many died ["Northwest Passage," Bandersnatch cover,
gamesiplay]
23. Show me show me show me how you do that trick / The one that makes me scream, she said ["Just Like Heaven," The Cure,
wintercreek]
24. I won't face another day, I won't wait until tomorrow / I won't spend another night without you
25. I knew you wanted to tell me / In your voice there was something wrong / But if you would turn your face away from me / You cannot tell me you're so strong ["The Path of Thorns (Terms)," Sarah McLachlan,
rivendellrose]
26. Dancin' out on 7th street / Dancin' through the underground / Dancin' little marionette / Are you happy now? ["When the Stars Go Blue," The Corrs cover,
nhpw]
27. Things have come to a pretty pass / Our romance is growing flat / 'Cause you like this and the other / While I go for this and that ["Let's Call the Whole Thing Off," Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers,
idharao]
28. Life is a mystery / Everyone must stand alone / I hear you call my name / And it feels like home ["Like a Prayer," Madonna,
rowdycamels]
29. I want to crawl back inside my mother's womb / I want to shut out all the lights in this room
30. I've got no arms, I've got no legs / I've got no shoulders, but I've got a head / I've got a head that tells me stupid things to do
