Speculation

These get progressively crazier as they go on.

- Daniel is Kara's father. (This isn't so much speculation as all-but-confirmed information as of the latest episode.)

- Cavil & Co. show up and there's a big space battle. (All but assured given the way they've been saving on SFX this past half-season.)

- Helo got Boomer pregnant when she tricked him into having sex with her.

- Daniel has something to do with the Opera House vision--notice that the tape Kara has is titled "Dreilide Thrace: Live at the Helice Opera House."

- Laura Roslin is NOT DEAD ARGH ARGH. Kara will give her hybrid blood and all will be well. They will have a joint vision of the Opera House and Daniel/Dreilide will make an appearance of some kind.

- Galactica herself is the dying leader who won't see the promised land. She's toast after this episode or the next. No way is she jumping again. (BTW, anyone else notice the new cracks in the word "Galactica" in the credits since the Chief discovered the hull breach? So cool.)

- Bill Adama is going to die any day now from this mysterious condition for which he pops pills, but I think he'll see the promised land first.

- There is still a promised land somewhere. The Lords of Kobol might have to get involved to help them find it.

- Hera's pattern of notes is also a starmap of some kind. I don't know where it's going to lead, but it'll lead somewhere interesting. (Olympus? The real Earth?)

- The piano player in the latest episode is another being like Head!Six and Head!Baltar. These beings are the "angels" Anders was rambling about before he went into his coma. Those who can see them are bound together in some manner. (OMG, is Kara the child Head!Six and Baltar were supposedly having way back in S1? Or even weirder--Kara is the baby that Ellen and Saul Tigh tried to have--Daniel stole her away and raised her on Caprica!)

- Some kind of encounter with the Lords of Kobol will allow all Cylons and all humans to interbreed easily. Centuries later, there are no pure humans or pure Cylons left. Resurrection doesn't work on the new hybrids...until someone who looks remarkably like Ellen Tigh develops new technology that will allow a person to download him/herself into a new body. Fade to black.

- The cycle of war and death somehow manages to stop with this generation. (This, I think is the craziest prediction of all...)

I am THOROUGHLY UNSPOILED for the final four and wish to remain that way. But please give me your thoughts on my cracked out speculations!

I did wonder about the Boomer!Sex. How totally weird would that be?

You know, I've been wondering--and again, this may be something that happened so long ago that I've forgotten it now--why haven't they just given Laura another shot of Hera's blood? Was there a reason that I can't remember?

I've been wondering about the whole Cylon breeding thing since last year--and this is pretty cracky, but since we're sharing crack-laden ideas... Given all the God stuff with the Cylons, I found myself wondering, while looking at the Mary/Baby Jesus paintings at the National Gallery last spring, if they're mirroring that idea somehow--that the god can't reproduce in human form on its own, and therefore needs humans as part of the equation. Not really sure where to take that idea, mind, but it's been sitting in the back of my head for very nearly a year now. (After all, the Cylons magically come back from death, too!)

I'm not sure why they'd bring resurrection back, really. Not after going to such lengths to kill it. I still have trouble believing that Ellen is such a brain surgeon, but that's neither here nor there, I suppose.

I'm not sure how Kara can be the Six/Baltar kid--give me more to go on? Not sure what to think about the Tigh thing, either. It sure would explain why Tigh and Kara never got along, though--major daddy issues?

I think the Lords of Kobol getting involved would be...pushing things. Direct involvement, anyway. Indirect things like Hera's stars I could buy. Actual gods? Uh-uh.

I am trying to remember if there was ever anyone in the opera house visions who could have been Kara, and failing. Do you remember?

Word. I've been thinking about that on and off since Laura's cancer relapse, except for me that's been maybe two weeks, tops. And still I have no idea why they didn't go down that road again. Obviously, repetition would suck, but not knowing why they're not doing it sucks just as much.

Exactly. I kind of wonder, now that I think about it a bit more, if they actually NEED her to die, or nearly die, in order for the ending to work out, and thought the series would be shorter so they revived her via Hera when it wasn't? Or even if they didn't have a timing problem in terms of production, if she really needs to be this sick now, so they're just sort of ignoring that bit and hoping we've all forgotten?

"Cylon babies can only be conceived through love"

Egad, I must've blocked that out, 'cause egad, stupid.

I was pretty sure Hera'd been born by the time they borrowed her blood. Could be wrong, but that's how I recall it. No, never mind, just looked and Athena was still preggo.

In your theory, are you equating the Cylons with God, or are both Cylon and human parents being used by God to reproduce part of itself?

Seriously? This theory ain't that well-developed. Take it and run with it in whichever direction(s) you like. :)

I think the Kara thing just twisted my brain into a pretzel, so I'm just gonna let that one lie ;)

I guess we'll wait to see on the gods and the opera house, 'cause I don't have time to go back to review, alas. And it'll all be over soon enough...which leaves me with really mixed feelings, now that I stop and think about it. Damn.

Oh, the "Deadlock" thing was just phenomenally idiotic. The Helo/Athena bit was long enough ago that I'd forgotten it, assuming I hadn't blocked it out in the first place, in a fit of "You did NOT just say something that stupid, did you?"

Let me know what you come up with if you run with that theory. I guess I was sort of figuring that the Cylons would have to be in the God position, except for the part where, if we're interpreting that image strictly, it falls apart at Athena. Yeah, that's why I said it wasn't well-developed...

Me too. I'm hoping it goes out in a blaze of glorious storytelling, though.

Me too, and I honestly suspect that it will. Just based on the mutiny episodes, we know they've still got it. I think we tend to forget that a bad episode of BSG is better than a good episode of almost anything else, so I have faith. :)

Why does it fall apart at Athena?

Because I'm taking it WAY more literally than you are. If the Cylon has to use the human womb as a vessel, the way that it works in that whole nativity story thang, it falls apart at Athena, 'cause she's obviously not human, and Helo's not a Cylon. I haven't come up with any other way to figure out who "god" is in that scenario, see? Toldja it wasn't a well-developed theory ;)

Is it really four episodes now, or is it three? Dammit, I will be in Florida for one of them, which will make watching difficult and being spoiled unbelievably easy...

the next two Fridays are one episode each, and March 20th is the two-hour finale. (Actually, I guess it's technically parts 2 and 3 of the finale, but whatever.)

OH NO THAT'S EVEN WORSE!!! I'll be at my parents' in Florida and will have a hard enough time getting one hour to watch, much less two! Aaaaaaauuuuuugggggghhhhhhh!!! Lords of Kobol Scheduling, why do you hate me so???

I could stay up, but my clock resets around Mom and Dad since they don't usually stay up as late as I do, so I'd probably sleep through half of it. TV is also a problem--there's a TV in the bedroom, but when I was there in December, it only got network stations. And if I try to watch in the family room, my parents will get pissed because they won't be able to sleep (this is a house in Florida, remember, which means lots of glass and tile. The place is a sound chamber. It's very, very difficult to get a glass of water quietly in the middle of the night; watching TV could be impossible).

Best I can probably hope for is to get Dad to record it on the DVR after we all go to sleep, but still... sigh.

Yeah, that's the only other option. Definitely yes to both questions, though if it's a 2-hour finale, that's gonna be one mighty big file. Still, in theory, it can be done. And I'm already on the day-late schedule, just like you. Beats being three weeks late, for sure!

Doesn't make me any happier with the gods of scheduling, though!
